Sed??

To get rid of the DROP TABLE and CREATE TABLE lines.
I finally discover the -t option for mysqldump. RTFM helps a lot.

I tried diffing but there were lots of inconsistencies, too many ALTER statements and fiddling around.

I'll try the dump method on a testbox first. If that works, I'll go for it at some point. Fortunately I have the possibility of taking the production mail server down in the evenings.
