Bottom line, if you want a thousand open connections on a single mail server with current DBMail, you're going to need a thousand processes and a thousand database handles. This don't scale.
I really would prefer to keep most of this discussion on the dbmail-dev list, for the sake of the sanity of those who are on the dbmail list for setup and configuration help and not for core architectural issues!
