That's what I found also. I did notice that with the newer dbmail (2.2.5 rc in Debian) it seems to work nicer than 2.2.4 with Thunderbird. I still get an error message now and then about a message range not existing but not near as frequent. I might have to do a trace to find out what's happening there (seems to be when using delete immediately instead of move to trash / mark as deleted)
