been running dbmail on quad amd64 since before Gmd (God made dirt) which
would be before DBMail 2.0.9 LOL

DBMail is totally happy running on 64 bit platforms. I don't know where
the appropriate Debian packages might be found, but you can build DBMail
by hand and it's all good :-)
