Been trying for a few days now to make postfix, dbmail, mysql work on sles 10. No luck. Sorry for the long message....but I've been at it a long time and wanted to give any info that might be important as to why I can't make it work.

Installed:
MySQL-client-community-5.0.41-0.sles10.i586.rpm
MySQL-devel-community-5.0.41-0.sles10.i586.rpm
MySQL-server-community-5.0.41-0.sles10.i586.rpm
MySQL-shared-community-5.0.41-0.sles10.i586.rpm
MySQL-shared-compat-5.0.41-0.sles10.i586.rpm
Why don't you use the 5.0 package sles10 provides? Btw, mysql is at 5.0._41_ allready? wow.

postfix-mysql-2.3.2-6.i586.rpm
Where did you get this one from? I think I made my postfix aware of mysql by recompiling the sles10 source which created postfix-mysql package. Maybe gad to tinker with the spec file a bit. IIRC.

Here are mine, running up2date sles10:
mail:~ # rpm -q mysql-Max
mysql-Max-5.0.18-20.8
mail:~ # rpm -q postfix-mysql
postfix-mysql-2.2.9-10.2

Just why are you using the not supported packages instead of the supported ones? Curious.

<snip>
way too many configs
</snip

In mail log getting:
warning: /usr/lib/postfix/smtpd: bad command startup
 -- throttling

mailtest postfix/smtpd[21854]: fatal: load_library_symbols: dlopen failure loading / usr/lib/postfix/dict_mysql.so: /usr/lib/postfix/dict_mysql.so: undefined symbol: db_common_parse_dom
ain

Well your postfix install is hosed apparently. Where did you get that package again?

I can send mail from server, but can't receive anything.

dbmail.log and dbmail.err are empty.
/var/log/mail is your primary source of info.

Try to get the components working one by one.

I'm willing to format disk and start over if I can come up with how to make it work.
thx,
