If email is still delivered to /var/spool/mail/xxxx then your sendmail
configuration is broken. Did you rebuild the mailertable database
after
changing the file, and reload sendmail?
And rebuild sendmail.cf after creating the mc file.
Perhaps someone who *uses* sendmail can shed some light on this. I
haven't used the beast in eight years or so.
I can, however I mis big parts of this thread because it tripped my
spamfilter. I'm still looking why.

this is correct. You may only use 1 line for each domain however.
Is the dbmail-lmtpd daemon running? can you telnet to it?
