Hum, that must be something with your configuration in particular.
I have about 1GB of emails and about 4000 mails now in my INBOX, and it's fast on a P4 3.2 with HT with only 512MB RAM

do you have "skip-name-resolve" in my.ini?

Subject: [Dbmail] slow opening mailboxes

hi list. little strange things with opening mailboxes. my mailbox hierarchy looks like:

INBOX--1
       2
       3
       N
SENT
DRAFTS
...
TRASH

when I opening INBOX (399 msgs) it's took about 9 seconds and dbmail-imapd took 100% of cpu, but inbox #1 contains 5808 msgs and opening took < 1 second. inbox 2 = 215 msgs and 7 seconds. inbox 3 = 4627 msgs and 1 second. SENT = 347 msgs and 8 seconds.. and so on. as you can see this is no correlation with mails count. I know only two diffirences: boxes 1 and 3 is threading. and only SENT or INBOX contain messages with attachments. other annoying thing: sometime when user walking through his mails, thunderbird start doing "opening folder..." and user should wait 5-7 seconds. any thougs?

tested with thundebird 1.5 and 2. dbmail 2.2.5. sorry if it's thunderbird bug (or feature)
