No, I meant what I said: feel free to remove that line, or change
TRACE_ERROR into TRACE_WARNING or TRACE_INFO.

Not my code. It's a debug statement, and my guess is it's a rather loud
FIXME reminder for Aaron, or whomever cares to pay attention since it
would be marginally better never to call that function with a NULL
argument. But as long as we never try to free the return value of that
function when it returns NULL, we're home free.
