Yeah Sim, MySQL works great together with dbmail so far
and actually MySQL has grown up over the past few years
and putting it into the "amateurs corner" is just not correct ...

And for solving this I actually patched dbmail, as Peter
suggested and it works very well so far - yay for Open Source!

cheers,
Daniel

David,

I haven't started evaluating 2.3 yet, but in the 2.2.* mysql is much
faster then postgresql in searches and doesn't have as many problems.

Sometimes the low-end database is more appropriate for an application
then the higher-end.

Instead of being a database leetist it is worth determining needs based
on the application.

first off, stop using mysql, it's for amateurs,
use postgresql.

and yes, just use a trigger.

Subject: [Dbmail] trigger for new messages

Hi there,

I have one more question:

the webmail system I wrote is almost done but at the moment I have
something that is not really working as I would like it too: checking
for
new messages. I do that by polling the database for it, but I suppose you guys have a nice way to fix that via a trigger within the mysql db?

Like having a table called: new_mail and update/insert entries there
based on a MySQL trigger? I have no idea where and how I could
put that into the current db scheme of dbmail without breaking/
generating other problems ...

Thanks for your time!

greetings,
Daniel
