The 2.3 series is an experimental branch, akin to the 2.5.x series of the linux kernel back in the day. Most subscribers of this list are quite happy with the production-ready 2.2.x series. Be aware that 2.2.12 introduced a regression, which apparently has been fixed and 2.2.13 is to be officially released today.
