About 6 month ago I have start to suffer strange imap hangs and I need to restart imap almost every day. Sometimes it's even hard to get it restarted without restarting whole dbmail. I was first thinking that maybe it's something to do that I run v5.1.x mysql what is not default for centos, so I did rebuild rpm against latest mysql-devel files, but it didn't change nothing. Where should I start to track what is the problem? Clients start to get pissed and if I can't solve this soon, I'm forced to drop dbmail what I don't like to do. Thanks!Hello everyone, i can confirm this problem. I've recently set up dbmail on debian (latest version in .deb package) and i'm experiencing the same behavoir. At the moment the mailserver is used only by 2 people (we can say it's under "beta testing") so it's hard to think that the problem is caused by too many client connections. Since the problem seems (to me) hard to reproduce, few days ago i set the trace_syslog level to 5, waiting for a new hang for post here debug information. For now i can only say we both use Mozilla Thunderbird with dbmail-imapd. When it hangs i try to login from Roundcube web interface installed on the same server and also here i get "can't connect to imap server". I'll post more debug info as soon as i can. Regards from Italy, Ettore _______________________________________________ DBmail mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.fastxs.nl/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/dbmailI think i found a "workaround" for this problem. After set the trace_syslog to 5 i also changed this: # # Child process is restarted after handling this many connections. # MAXCONNECTS = 100 # # Child process will restart after this many connection errors. # MAX_ERRORS = 5 After that, no more hangs.. Decrease MAXCONNECTS seems to help. I hope this could be useful for who is exeperiencing this problem.
Yup, same thing helped in my situation.
