I found a post a while back that said to put in a custom CAPABILITIES line that doesn't advertise IDLE - that solved it for my thunderbird and webmail clients both..

Do you have maintenance scripts scheduled ? My dbmail version came with such scripts on my Debian Lenny server. Those scripts do a lot of things to keep the database running (postgresql), including index rebuilds. Otherwise I also use thunderbird clients on IMAP ; I could convince the last outlook user that his MUA was crap and not respectful of the W3C standards. Of course I'm totally objective and not trolling at all ;).

    Dear all,

I've got a problem with my dbmail 2.2.17 server and thunderbird
3.1.7 at least (and older versions too) clients.

I've got thousand of mailbox in dbmail with users using
    thunderbird and outlook.
People are connected using IMAP mailboxes
In thunderbird, users often complain not receive mails... and
have to rebuild their index to make message appear by miracle. It
can be 2 or 3 hours old messages or older... so they did already
make send and receive lot of time between it without seeing this
    emails.

Ex : Someone of the corp did send an email to a global mailing
list and so every one should have receive it in their own mailbox.

Half of customer did receive it... half not (including myself) . A
rebuild of the index did make the mail appear! :(

I don't know what can I do to solve it or informations to give
about this (logs, events to reports?)

Server is installed on a ubuntu 9.10 server 64bit and dbmail is
installed compiling the source from tar.gz

    Can you help me please?

    Best Regards,
    Jc.
