Perhaps, but we are still in search of a suitable value. I read your
post, but could not understand what value should be used in our case.
With the default value there are errors in the log. We use two dbmail
instances on different servers and haproxy to distribute connections
between servers.

In this scenario, each server serves about 250 IMAP connections
simultaneously. However, it is important that in the case of a fall of
one of the remaining servers could serve all 500 connections. So it
seems we need some reserve in max_db_connections.
