Hi Markus,
No, I wouldnt't modify core. I would write an AnnotatedTextSource class
that is able to read NIF input into AnnotatedParagraph and
DBpediaResourceOccurrence objects, and then write out from those objects to
NIF output. There are already a few such classes (read only) in the module
eval.
After this is done, we can easily modify the rest module to respond with
NIF based on the HTTP request.
