Hi,

The Spotlight demo has not been working for several languages the past
week due to downtime on the server(s) hosted at
http://spotlight.sztaki.hu. Interested visitors could be
confused/disappointed about the tool, because no warning or error
message is given. The text just remains unannotated, and it is not clear
whether anything has happened at all. Perhaps something for a maintainer
to look into?

Personally, I've gotten something out of the downtime: I'm now
experimenting with running my own servers. I'm very impressed that I'm
able to host both English and Dutch models simultaneously on a 8 Gb
machine (thanks developers!), but I'm getting a lot less recall than I
would like with English texts.
I'm using the "medium" spotter lexicon, and I wonder: is the URI
threshold of 10 (mentioned in the filename) a threshold on the number of
inlinks (same as with the support parameter)? Intuitively, I don't think
this would have much influence on the annotations I expect, but I like
to understand what I'm working with.
Also, I would like to know if there is any way to set the "spotting
probability" (the last number in spotter_thresholds.txt) in the
server.properties file? I'm using the pre-built models (.mem files) for
Dutch, and adjusting this parameter in
spotter_thresholds.txt works beautifully for what I want to do. For
English, I have no way to fit these models into my RAM unfortunately.

Cheers,
Alex
