Hello,
My name is Jorge Cruz and I'm participating in the 2014 GSOC. I'm excited
to be working on the 'New DBpedia Interfaces: Resource Widgets' project and
I hope to learn more about working on open source projects.
A little about me... I'm 25 years old, I live in Orange County, CA and I'm
a student at Fullerton College. I'm currently working on transferring to
the Informatics program at the the University of California, Irvine. I
first learned about DBpedia and the semantic web about 3 years ago and
since then, it's been something that I'm really interested in.
So what am I going to be doing this summer? I'm going to be creating
embeddable widgets for a variety of DBpedia resources such as public
figures and landmarks. In addition to that, I'll be making a
jQuery/Wordpress plugin that provides functionality similar to the Freebase
auto-suggest widget. To tie all together, I'll be constructing an app that
showcases the DBpedia powered auto-suggest plugin and the widgets.
If anyone has any questions, tips or concerns, feel free to reach out to me.
@mentors: The best time, for me, to have our first official meeting is on
Wednesday from 10AM to 5PM pacific time. If that time window does not work
for everyone, feel free to suggest some times outside that time window.
Thanks,
Jorge Cruz
