I'm involved in a project that is considering doing just this, but only for
pages related to human genes. So.. we would love it if DBpedia or some one
else went ahead and did the whole thing ;). If anyone is interested in working
out the problems on a small subset of pages, we encourage you to work on the
gene pages (and of course we would be interested in helping out).

Aside, would such a project be seen as competition for wikipedia or possibly
for freebase?

Subject: [Dbpedia-discussion] Semantic Wikipedia

Hi,

The Semantic MediaWiki extension has been out for years now but it looks like
it will take some time until it is installed on Wikipedia. In the meantime,
maybe DBpedia could host a copy of Wikipedia with the Semantic MediaWiki
extensions installed? That way people could start adding more semantic data to
Wikipedia that could be available to DBpedia.
