Hi,
the issue you are referring is one of a few in the dbpedia
internationalization effort, see [1]
There is currently an effort to create a more flexible extraction framework
(but it might take while)
meanwhile we (people on the page) have developed modified versions to deal
with them locally...
if you are interested to any of them, you are free to ask for an unofficial
patch ;)
if you want to be part of this effort, you are welcome to join the group,
write your name and give any new ideas...
