I think that broadening the community is what's needed to have a
situation where support can be offered seven days a week, and I'm
pretty sure (judging by the questions I was asked about our[1]
experiences) that there are efforts underway to try to encourage more
contributions (thus extending the community).

Google Code-In was recently announced, which might be an opportunity
for this. I can provide more details, if anyone is interested.
