it seems that some authority template instances existed before the latest
DBpedia release (e.g. [1])
so these properties were extracted from the infoboxExtractor.

Infobox extractor extracts greedily and usually it has very low quality,
but in this case viaf is a number so the quality is actually very good.

The mapToClass definition is obligatory for now. About the "new nodes"
behaviour you can read the entries in the wiki
http://mappings.dbpedia.org/index.php/How_to_edit_DBpedia_Mappings#Template_Mapping
http://mappings.dbpedia.org/index.php/Template:TemplateMapping
or the complete manual (sec 5.2 mostly)
http://dbpedia.hg.sourceforge.net/hgweb/dbpedia/extraction_framework/raw-file/02b0b7b41624/core/doc/mapping_language/DBpedia_Mapping_Language.pdf

Best,
Dimitris
