Hi, DBpedia developers,

My name is Yexi Jiang and I am a graduate student whose research areas are
data mining and information retrieval. Having viewed the web site about the
project ideas, I find them super interesting and are planning to apply for
the DBpedia GSoc project.

I have several internship experiences working on data mining and semantic
web projects at IBM Research and Microsoft Research.

For last summer, I was working on designing and developing a question
answering system to facilitate the service acquisition for IBM service
customer. In this project, I defined the ontology in the service domain and
leveraged the semantic web technologies to facilitate service knowledge
retrieval to help the customer to find their proper service.

I would love to work on the projects 'Type inference to extend coverage' or
'Ontology consistency check'. With my previous experience on semantic web
and data mining, I believe I can handle these project.

As for the skill set, I am familiar with the semantic web technology
including RDFS, OWL, and the SPARQL query. I am also familiar with the
related open source tools such as Jena, WebPIE, TDB, 3store.
In terms of programming language, I wrote Java programs for about 10 years
and I am familiar with many open source libraries. As for Scala, I am a
starter and just learnt it from Coursera, but I am a quick learner. As for
the code management tools, I am familiar with svn, git, ant, and maven.

Since some of my projects I did was during the internships, due to the
confidential issue, I'm unable to publish them. However, a small portion of
my code is available at https://github.com/yxjiang.

Regards,
Yexi
