Thank you very much for the link to the previous discussion - it was indeed
very helpful. I would love to read the paper, if it's not too much of a
hassle to provide it, of course.
I can see in the discussion that the advantages of using an extension
rather than altering the core are pretty convincing – not only is it safer,
but could more easily be adapted for other cases and localisations. I had
envisioned a transliteration tool that could provide for different
digraphic/trigraphic languages, and could be further extended more easily
with language-specific parameters. It would be exciting to work on
languages where the relationship between writing systems is less exact, but
maybe that would be overshooting :)
In any case, thank you for your help. I'm wondering if there is already a
list or categorization of the languages that would ideally be covered by
the extension; I would like to make something of the sort for a start.
