** Apologies for multiple postings ** JISC released a funding call on the 11th October that makes available a total of £1.9m across six strands of activity.
1. Resource Discovery (£250k) 2. Enhancing the Sustainability of Digital Collections (£500k) 3. Research Information Management (£450k) 4. Research Tools (£350k) 5. Applications of the Linking You toolkit (£140k) 6. Access and Identity Management (£200k) Details available at: http://www.jisc.ac.uk/fundingopportunities/funding_calls/2011/10/grantcall1611.aspx Subscribers to these lists might be particularly interested in the second of these areas which invites proposals to address the sustainability and value of digital materials. The projects will be required to benchmark perceptions of the value of materials; then undertake actions to enhance and reinforce that value; and then survey stakeholders to investigate the implications of those actions. This is a broadly enabling funding opportunity and should allow a wide range of activities to happen within the context of thinking about sustainability. A number of suggestions for enhancement activities can be found within an updated version of the call at the link above ... or on the JISC Digital Infrastructure Team blog http://infteam.jiscinvolve.org/wp/2011/10/20/addendum-to-enhancing-sustainability-section-of-1611-di-call/ The deadline for submitting proposals for all strands of the call is 12 noon on Monday 21 November. I will be available on Wednesday 26th October to answer phone and email queries in relation to the call.
