Such labels as "sectarian," "dogmaatic," "utopian" (applied to people
rather than ideas), etc. are merely 20th-c embodimeents of a rhetorical
device recognized and labelled a couple thousand years ago: it's called
poisoning the wells of discourse." Probably most who commit this logical
fallacy do so unconscious of the tradition or of the standdards of
rhetoric in rational discourse, which excuses them as people but still
disqualifies them as useful participants in any discussion.
