Hello,

I'm running kernel 2.6.14-rc3 on Fedora Core 4 and I haven't been able
to get the modified ttcp program working again. On my computer, it used
to work on past versions of the DCCP kernel. I tried both ttcp versions
posted on the DCCP wiki. I also went back to my older DCCP kernel
versions, and somehow, the modified ttcp stopped working there too. I
disabled the firewall, rebooted many times, checked my Ethernet settings
so I can ping localhost and other connected computers, and tried
changing the port used by ttcp. Do you know what might be causing this,
or what I could try to make sure I have DCCP installed and working?

While logged in as root, the commands I tried for receive are:

./ttcp_acme -c -l500 -r
./ttcp_acme -c  -r
./ttcp_new -c -l500 -r
./ttcp_new -c -r

and here is the error I get:

ttcp-r: buflen=500, nbuf=2048, align=16384/+0, port=5001  dccp(inet)
ttcp-r: socket
ttcp-r: bind: Permission denied
errno=13

and since receive doesn't work, transmit also produces errors:
./ttcp_acme -c -l256 -t 127.0.0.1
./ttcp_acme -c -t 127.0.0.1

Produces:
ttcp-t: buflen=256, nbuf=2048, align=16384/+0, port=5001  dccp(inet)  ->
127.0.0.1
ttcp-t: socket
ttcp-t: connect: Software caused connection abort
errno=103

The commands
./ttcp_new -c -l256 -t 127.0.0.1
./ttcp_new -c -t 127.0.0.1
produce
ttcp-t: buflen=256, nbuf=2048, align=16384/+0, port=5001  dccp  ->
127.0.0.1
ttcp-t: socket
ttcp-t: connect: Protocol error
errno=71

I tried it without the -c option for DCCP and that works, but that isn't
using DCCP.

Thank you for any help,

Jennifer
