Have tested using netem to introduce loss and delay and works OK. Feel free to comment on naming or use of timers, locks etc as this is first time that I've had a really good play with those. Only slight performance issue I see is that when running over LAN with ttcp and no dleay not all packets are received. I'm pretty sure that this is due to the fact we are now buffering and my receiving machines can't keep up!!! Once we have delay etc more packets get delivered. I was concerned a little about this but this seems to be the reason - it is an unreliable protocol after all... I have done a reasonable amount of testing but feel free to do as much as you want and tell me of any problems.
