I didn't see the significance of the first part of PlatformUtils on first appraisal, and now see my MS SQL Server XML configuration file should have included many more entries for subprotocols and JDBC drivers. I also see that my oft-used jTDS driver is one of those for which guessing is useless, as the same class name serves two different database types. Sigh.... We continue to advance, however slowly.
