I just received this message on the Acid Test Reels from Alan Bershaw and
I'll be offering up the suppliment as soon as I get it. :) Stu
Hi Stu & Dee, Neil, Steve, Bruce, Rob and Gerry,
The 5th "Acid Test Reels" supplement discs are on their way to you. Here
is my complete notation up to this point for your reference. First, is my
notation for the 5th suppliment disc (and I've noted a few mistakes I noticed
in previous documentation on Deadlists), followed by complete notation for
the finished set (Discs 1-5). Feel free to repost where needed. Thanks for
helping to spread these around! Alan
The Acid Test Reels Compilation

6. It's A Sin [3:20]
7. Beat It On Down The Line [2:50]
8. Heads Up [3:55]
9. Next Time You See Me [2:49]
10. unknown blues instrumental[7:06]
11. Death Don't Have No Mercy [5:50]
12. Midnight Hour [10:45]
Notes:
The 8th song, previously notated as "unknown instrumental" on Deadlists, is a
cover of Freddy King's "Heads Up." The 9th tune, previously listed as "The
Same Thing (instrumental)," is definitely NOT that song. Although it is a
standard blues and sounds similar at the beginning, closer listening makes it
pretty obvious that it is an entirely different song, title unknown. The
Viola Lee Blues on this expanded version is a different version than on the
previous three song version of Pico Acid Test. This is an ongoing mystery,
although it should be said that both versions are worth having.
This 5th "supplement disc" now completes this project. Thank you to Jeff
Lester (who supplied the missing 6 minute Watts sequence) and Bill Kristy
(who tracked down the expanded Pico material).

My original intentions for compiling "The Acid Test Reels" material was to
chronologically include every single Acid Test related recording known to
exist, as it is notated in Volume One of The Compendium. I intentionally left
some time at the end of disc #1, so that the Watts Acid Test "Who Cares Rap"
(approx 6:00) would fit there and then Volume 1 through 4 would indeed
contain every last Acid Test related recording in The Compendium (plus more)
in chronological order.
Here is the complete notation for this project. Note that I have now included
the Watts sequence where it was originally intended at the end of disc #1.
Folks who already have the original 4 discs compiled in March 2001 should get
the supplement disc that includes both Watts and the expanded Pico
recordings. I hope everyone enjoys these efforts but for God's sake, listen
to it in small doses and not all at once! ;-) Alan
