COMMENTS
The San Francisco Chronicle newspaper of Friday October 18, 1968 pg 50:
"...at the Greek Theater (U. C. Berkeley) Sunday afternoon: Canned Heat,
Grateful Dead, Mad River, Stonehenge, Linn County". A previous
announcement for this concert also mentioned Santana, but perhaps they
dropped out of the lineup. The opening acts are not mentioned in
DeadBase XI. Schoolgirl and Dark Star both fade in at beginning with
only the first few seconds lost. After Schoolgirl there is some
complaining about long computer hassles at the airport and how glad they
are to finally be in Fresno - or are they in Turlock? After "one man
gathers what another man spills" in Saint Stephen, just silence for a
few seconds. The Eleven timing includes the William Tell verse. They
are sliding into the Feedback for about 40 seconds before the transition
in the timings. Tape flip at about 1:27 in Feedback. The bands stops
but the PA hums so much they say "Its playin' by itself. We'll leave
you with the PA - you don't need us anymore." An announcer then says
"far out, far out, the Grateful Dead."
