Prior to May 21, 2002, deadlists was running on a server
with a very old version of majordomo that had customizations.
The customizations including forcing a digest to go out if there
were any messages at all at 7am and 4pm Pacific time.
On May 21, 2002, the deadlists was moved to a server
running the latest version of majordomo that would only allow
postings from subscribers.
This latest version of majordomo will send out a digest:
1) whenever the limit (for digest size) is reached
This limit is the default of 40000 characters.
2) when the oldest undigested message is over the limit
(and a new message is received)
This limit is set to the default of 1 day
With respect to 2), if a message isn't received for a number of
days, a digest will not go out...
