Title: 2/7/69, 5/16/70, 10/11/70 & 10/12/70

I just finished checking out the newly circulating Cds of Pittsburgh 2/7/69.  The new DeadLists entry is copied below.  Whoever did the tracking on the CDs did a great job.  The Late Show is pretty cookin for early '69.

I also copy the new entry for 5/16/70.  I thought that I passed Kevin a new version of 1970 that included it a while ago but I don't know why it's not up on the site.

I also copy below the entries for 10/11/70 and 10/12/70.  These, too, have apparently not yet appeared on the site.  The basis for the entries is spelled out in the COMMENTS.  As Jim Davies noted in his post to the list on 1/8/03 -- Subject: Oct 11 and 12 1970 -- and as noted in COMMENTS, there were no NRPS sets.  I'd appreciate hearing more from Jim Davies (and others) as to what he regards as inaccurate in the entries posted below.  Thanks

COMMENTS   Recently a partial tape has turned up for this date, as listed above.  At the end of this 26+ minutes of tape, after offering to buy the tape, Sam Cutler forces the taper to turn off the deck, which explains why no more of this show circulates, at least from this taper. Jimi Hendrix was the headliner, followed by the Dead, Steve Miller and Cactus.

COMMENTS There is a series of brief cuts or dropouts toward the end of the China Cat Jam and the Rider cuts off short by several minutes.  The beginning of Dark Star is cut on this tape; probably 2-4 minutes are missing.  All circulating copies of the tape appear to have these cuts, which are likely on the master.  This is B-grade audience tape -- listenable but leaving something to be desired.  There is no SBD of this show in the vault.  According to DeadBase IX there was also a NRPS set, but they are wrong about this on 10/10 and are probably wrong here, too.  The first show on this tour for which tape of NRPS currently circulates is Georgetown 10/23/70.

COMMENTS According to Marc Schaeffer the Dead played another, unscheduled concert at this venue on 10/12/70.  There is a review in the student newspaper (not informative, according to Schaeffer) but apparently no tapes of the show.  There is no SBD of this show in the vault.
