I'm sorry for the WOB here, but both Paul Cotton and Paul Gibian at various times
promised me up-to-date copies of the complete 3/18/77 jam SBD. Are either of you
here, or has anyone heard from either of them? Thanks.

Not to be picky, but this is the same venue but listed as different
cities. Actually, Compton Terrace is not part of either Tempe or
Chandler it is located on an unincorporated Indian Reservation outside
of the Phoenix metro area. It is a different venue than the one listed
by the same name that the Dead played at in the early 80's. That one
was actually in Phoenix, near the airport and situated in a fairgrounds
type area complete with a midway etc. I know this because my brother
lives in Phoenix and I attended shows at Compton Terrace in 83,90 and
92. Peace Jeff Jansen [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Question: Did Grateful Dead ever release the cover version of "wish you were
here" (written by pink floyd) ?

Or, did they ever play it live?

I have to know! Please let me know if you know the answer.

I saw this post also and had to comment on it. This show was one long
set, sort of two sets combined. The Dead opened for Dylan (with Tom
Petty and the Heartbreakers as his backup band). This is one show I
don't have because taping wasn't allowed due to Dylan. I was there
which is how I know. Peace

Phil sang it with the Allman Brothers for the "One For Woody" benefit. As
far as I know, the Dead never played "Wish You Were Here" live or in the
studio.

That is true, but since it is only a few miles south of Chandler, for
simplicity's sake, I call it Chandler. Although, now that I think of it
right this moment, it's west of I-10. So technically, if you call it
anything, it should be Phoenix.

I seem to recall that it was right around the time of Working Man's, the
fall of '69 perhaps.

If these derive from Sandy's old reel (before he even got his Tandberg!),
then there should be many copies with better geneology. Menke's. for
instance, or even my old reel (if I could find it). Pat Lee probably has a
better copy.
