i talked to gerhard schinzel on the phone and asked him about his reel of 4-24-70
the master was done by some richard wethy, who despite the poor result insisted on sending it to gerhard in the 70's due to the fact that it was his first ever recording. we can not go back to him, because for more than 10 years he is with jerry
gerhard had it sittin ( a smaller BASF reel) for years and just lately thought to send it out to g shaw (hello there from germany again greg)...while transferring it gerhard became aware of problems on the reel due to its age .he had had this before and he thought up his old tricks (cleaning and s f ) and he repaired parts which gave him trouble... he was then unaware that in the process the start of the tape got foul....
he is willin to try his best and re-run his 1st gen reel,
