Hello Steve,
I'm an old freind of Dick Latval's. I dropped out and fairly recently got
back into the game. I've been trying to transfer items worth transfering
onto CD. It's been difficult to weed through all that is in
circulation...and then, of what that is in circulation... those that are
worth remastering due to digital dropouts, static, high gen. etc. looking at
1987, saw your email here on Deadlists. Many of my 87 boards I got from
Dick. Some I got from the archive, a few I was allowed to plug into the
board. Some of those Healy matrix boards were very good, other were very
dirty in the mix(Dark) I know some of this material was recorded as straight
SBD others via "Matrix", some on cassette and on PCM Beta. I'm trying to
figure out what's out there. I don't want to duplicate my efforts if a
perfect transfer is out there already. Also, if I have an oddity I'm
transfering those.
What do you mean by "MATE"? Is that for those recording people now call
"Matrix" boards. By the way, my original SBD cassettes recorded for me by
Healy have "Healy mix-Ultra Box" written on them. They were mastered on
TDK-R90 metal sheel cassettes. As a matter of fact the whole tour was
recorded on those on a D-5, and was in the archive at one time.
Right now I'm transfering a PCM of 5-2-87 I got from Dougle Donaldson. It
says SBD, but sounds more like one of Digital Daves stellar F-1 Pcm aud.
recordings. It doesn't sound like a Healy matrix, and not a plain SBD. What
does yours come from? I should check and see If I got one from Dick also and
compare.
Hope to hear from you.
