The following has been confirmed with Vic Briggs (of the Animals):

March 22, 1968: State Fair Coliseum, Detroit, MI: Eric Burdon and The
Animals, Grateful Dead, Eire Apparent, Apostles, Jagged Edge

This was billed as "The Grande Scene at the State Fair Coliseum", this was
effectively a Russ Gibb promoted Grande Ballroom show that was moved out to
the State Fair Coliseum because of the expectations that the promoter had
for the crowd that would show up to see the Grateful Dead and the Animals.
When the expected numbers failed to materialise, the decision was taken to
move the following Saturday show back to the Grande Ballroom. The Grateful
Dead decided to bail out on the Saturday performance and flew back to San
Francisco.

No Grateful Dead performance on the Saturday.
