FYI - Frost, Kaiser and the Greek all under 9000... but the 89 shows were
the last for each of these

My opinion is the boundary for what information we maintain with respect to
venues ought to be what the official name of the location was at the time
they performed there. This would take care of name changes over time.
Having a second entry for the venue based on address while not only
unrelated to deadlist's core purpose would necessitate a field for
addresses....

My .02 anyway.

Subject: Charlotte Coliseum-there were two

   Charlotte Coliseum (old)
   2700 East Independence Blvd
   Charlotte, North Carolina 28205
   Capacity 9605

Architect was A.G. Odell and Associates of Charlotte, NC.

It was opened and dedicated in 1955, as Charlotte Coliseum. At the
time, it was the largest unsupported steel dome in the world.
Bojangles' Coliseum (originally Charlotte Coliseum and formerly
Independence Arena and Cricket Arena) remains as a multi-purpose arena,
   in Charlotte, North Carolina.

   12/10/73 Grateful Dead
   5/3/79 Grateful Dead
   10/5/84 Grateful Dead
11/10/91 Jerry Garcia Band (unclear in which Charlotte Coliseum this
   took place)

   ###########################

   Charlotte Coliseum (new)
   100 Paul Buck Boulevard
   Charlotte, North Carolina 28266
   Capacity 23780

This was actually the second building to use the name "Charlotte
Coliseum". It was opened on August 11, 1988 with a dedication by the
Rev. Billy Graham. At the time the venue was seen as state-of-the-art,
complete with luxury boxes and a large eight-sided video scoreboard.
The city of Charlotte sold the property, and the building was
demolished via implosion on June 3, 2007.

   10/22/89 Grateful Dead
   10/23/89 Grateful Dead
   6/11/91 Grateful Dead
   6/12/91 Grateful Dead
11/10/91 Jerry Garcia Band (unclear in which Charlotte Coliseum this
   took place)
   6/17/92 Grateful Dead
   6/18/92 Grateful Dead
   3/22/95 Grateful Dead
   3/23/95 Grateful Dead
   3/24/95 Grateful Dead

In 1989 I don't think the Grateful Dead played 9000 capacity venues
anymore. Maybe on Deadlists there should be seperate pages for each of
   the two Charlotte Coliseums.

   Thanks
   Harry Angus
