well, the only additional thing i can see in config.log is line numbers:
configure:11592: checking for PETSc library directory
configure:11606: result: /home/dng/petsc-3.0.0-p7
configure:11612: error: Path to PETSc specified with --with-petsc does not
point to a complete PETSc installation

It's hard to tell from a distance what may have gone wrong here. Can you
try and search through config.log to see what triggered this error?
