I'm forwarding the announcement below for my colleague Laurent Montesi, a
professor in geology/geophysics at the University of Maryland who is
looking for graduate students with experience with deal.II. If you are
interested and/or have questions, please contact me or him.

We invite applications for PhD studies in the Geodynamics group at the
University of Maryland, College Park. A Research Assistantship is
available to work on a NSF-funded project on “Influence of plate boundary
evolution and global mantle flow on ridge geodynamics” (Ridge 2000
program). The successful applicant will join a young and active group
working on plate boundary and planetary evolution. The student in this
project will use the deal.II Finite Element library to model mantle flow
and melting compare model results with geophysical and geochemical dataset
two mid-ocean ridges. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in
geophysics, fluid mechanics, or scientific computing.

For more information, please contact directly Laurent Montesi
([email protected]).
