Hello, I am student interested in using dealii. I have installed it on my laptop and have worked through some of the tutorial examples. I would like to use it to solve MHD equations in 3D and realize that the code will have to be made as parallel as possible. I see that PETSc is referred to and used a lot in the mailing list. I have been fortunate enough to work with the Alabama Supercomputer Center and have asked their system administrator if dealii and PETSc can be put on their cluster. He has installed PETSc and dealii, but has found that PETSc cannot be called to inside of Deal.II.
I have reviewed the steps and pages for configuring Deal.II with PETSc on the deal.II site and asked the adminstrator if it was any of those problems. He has told me that he has tried all of those things. He has basically offered me a last shot at the installation. My question is, does anybody know a version of deal.II and PETSc that will cooperate with each other for a 64 bit version of SLES (Possibly someone's instructions for getting it to work that I missed in the mailing list archives) or a SUSE linux version. Otherwise, I will be left to outputting files from deal.II , reformatting them, and trying to send them into PETSc and I guess the converse. Thanks, Dan Brauss _______________________________________________ dealii mailing list http://poisson.dealii.org/mailman/listinfo/dealii
