The general approach seems clear: Extend the recursive function given in step 47 in such a way that it uses the same features to that are used to treat ordinary hanging nodes for hanging nodes on the boundaries. I read the hp paper and the relevant part of the doc but I am still at loss how to do this in such a way that it uses the machinery provided by the library.
Can you be more specific which part you don't understand?
