I did wrong....
I suggest that the fact we cannot use --prefix should be mentioned in
the installation instructions explicitly.
Anyway, it's OK with building in the installation directory.

I saw it there when I did "configure --help" . Do you mean that ./configure
will accept it but it will not process it as expected?
If this is the case, besides building in the installation directory, is
there any other way to built deal.II in one place and install on another ?
