Dear deal.II,
Due to the release of metis 5.x some time ago, we have modified deal.II
to be compatible with this version. If you are building metis from
source, it is alot simpler though requires cmake.
Try "make config shared prefix=/path/to/metis" to configure
metis,where /path/to/metis is where you would like the build installed.
Then "make install" to build metis 5.x. (That's it).
--use-metis=/path/to/metis to configure deal.II with metis 5.x if you
built from source or are using a package installer.
Notes: Metis 4.x will no longer work; the configure flag
--use-metis-libs will probably dissapear in the future.
Sorry in advance for the brief annoyance of necessarily upgrading metis.
