Dear Maxi,

This variable is populated by a series of checks on your particular
system. It happens when the configuration stage prints the following
lines, and I assume that this is what you see:

-- Performing Test DEAL_II_HAVE_SSE2
-- Performing Test DEAL_II_HAVE_SSE2 - Failed
-- Performing Test DEAL_II_HAVE_AVX
-- Performing Test DEAL_II_HAVE_AVX - Failed
-- Performing Test DEAL_II_HAVE_AVX512
-- Performing Test DEAL_II_HAVE_AVX512 - Failed
-- Performing Test DEAL_II_HAVE_ALTIVEC
-- Performing Test DEAL_II_HAVE_ALTIVEC - Failed
-- Performing Test DEAL_II_HAVE_OPENMP_SIMD
-- Performing Test DEAL_II_HAVE_OPENMP_SIMD - Success

Since you are on x86-64, you should at least have a level of 1 (anyway,
also level 0 should not result in a linker error and we need to
investigate it).

Can you please post the file CMakeFiles/CMakeError.log which contains
the output of all checks that ended up being "failed" (i.e., the checks
our configuration system is doing to determine a stable configuration
that does not fail)? This way, I can look into why that failed on your
system and it might give me some hint...

Best,
Martin
