No, that's just the default :-) We can solve problems where the dimensionality
of the domain is less than the dimensionality of the space in which the domain
is located -- we call these dim and spacedim, and dim can be smaller than
spacedim.
You might want to look at steps 34, 38, 54, 60, and several others.
