At the Physics department, Umeå University, we are performing Space Weather 
research and developing  high-performance computing pipelines for 
supporting our research.
We are designing Inverse reconstruction strategies implemented in *deal.II*, 
using 
ionospheric measurements from EISCAT_3D, ALIS_4D and complementary 
ionospheric measurements.

Post doctor scholarship (2 years) in high-performance computing for space 
weather applications
The Department of Physics at Umeå University is offering a postdoctoral 
scholarship for a project that aims to develop high-performance computing 
(HPC) models and simulation tools for space weather applications. 

The position is a 2-year postdoctoral scholarship focused on HPC methods 
for space weather applications, including analysis of ionospheric data from 
EISCAT_3D and ALIS_4D, as well as modeling geoelectric fields and 
geomagnetically induced currents (GICs).

Last day to apply: 7 August 2026
Starting date: 15 October 2026, or by agreement
