I have been reading some of the entries here on the choice of the United States for DebConf 10 and I have three comments so far:
o Those who have heard me speak and seen my writing know I am no fan of the Draconian policies of the last president. I have great hopes that our new president will reverse or relax some of these policies, particularly after the speech he gave last night. o With the lineage of our new president, I hope that people of other than lily-white skin will get some new respect at the borders of our country, as indeed all people should get until it is shown they deserve less. o While I think it is a bit early to discuss issues like how much electronics you will buy in the United States when you arrive, I will put in a "plug" for my own state, New Hampshire, that has no sales tax. A five hour drive away from New York City, a mini-van full of prospective shoppers would find a series of electronic discount houses right across the border from Taxachusetts (our name for Massachusetts) Leave early in the morning, be back that same day and perhaps see some scenery outside of the asphalt of New York City? Now, back to planning for DebConf 9?
