I've done some work on a Debian based solar/home controller, and am very interested in this subject (especially in the UI area and better control software). I know nothing about UIs, and the software I've found so far (DIYZoning and Mango) are both java based which makes them very hard to build for arm (I have failed so far)). I've got a pretty good idea what's needed but no skills in writing GUI-stuff, so I'm actually rather stalled on that: You can only find out how the water is by looking on the internet - the display on the box has remained resolutely dark all year... Some vague controller description: http://wookware.org/solar/ FOSDEM talk on subject: http://wookware.org/talks/hotwaterballoon-Fosdem2009.pdf How hot my water is: http://aleph1.co.uk/munin/wookware.org/control.wookware.org.html#Solar (hmm, 90C for much of today :-) So yes, count me in. If there is wider interest I can give the above talk or a more Debian-oriented version of it. (I didn't propose it as it's a bit tangential to Debian really).
