Get a travel insurance, considering the cost of the US system, it is very wise to get the insurance for a few euros and avoid paying thousands of dollars in medical costs in case something does happen. Specifically: the generic free European insurance card (EHIC) does NOT work in the US (or anywhere else outside Europe and a few other countries).
