As a user of Debian for many years and a Muslim I’m writing to say I’m deeply saddened by Debian’s choice to have Debconf in Israel.
Israel is land stolen from Palestinians its a illegitimate nation that has built walls with machine gun turrets and oppressive paramilitary groups that assault and murder Palestinians and that blockade aid from Palestinians. Palestinian or Muslim Debian contributors won’t be allowed by Israel to attend Debconf. If this proceeds I will end my use of Debian and Debian derivatives and encourage every Muslim Linux user I know to avoid Debian and Debian derivatives. I also know a lot of DD’s who are concerned about what’s going on and the oppression of Palestinians so I’d call on those DD’s to boycott any Debconf in Israel by not attending or participating because it’s the right thing to do.
