afaik quite a few people are using matrix to connect to the traditional IRC challels, especially when doing so from a mobile device. I believe that there were plans to also install biboumi to provide the same service to XMPP accounts on the debian.org server, but I don't know whether it has happened yet. -- Elena ``of Valhalla''
